Kensington Philharmonic Orchestra
Sounds From The North

Join the KPO, one of London’s leading non-professional orchestras, for a stirring smorgasbord of Nordic masterpieces.

The programme opens with Nielsen’s Helios Overture, a portrait of the sun rising out of darkness into blazing glory before setting quietly over the sea as the earth turns.   Prize-winning Japanese pianist, Yura Zaiki then joins the KPO to play Grieg’s irresistible piano concerto.  The concert concludes with Sibelius’s third symphony which conjures up the sweeping Finnish landscape and contains one of the most exquisite slow movements ever written.  It is also an inspiration for the Lord of the Ring’s theme tune.

Tickets are £15 (£12 concessions, £6 for under 18s), available via the KPO website https://kpo.org.uk/?page_id=5670 or on the door.
